PSX Closing: KSE-100 Index gains 540 points

August 23, 2022 (MLN): The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) staged a turnaround on Tuesday with the KSE-100 Index gaining 540 points and settled the trading session at 43,367 or 1.26% DoD increase. 

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP)’s decision to keep the policy rate unchanged at 15% and news flow regarding the secured funding of $4bn from friendly countries were the key catalysts in today’s session, a market closing note by Al Habib Capital Markets cited.

The Index remained positive throughout the session touching an intraday high of 43,418.37.

Of the 96 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 72 closed up 21 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 138.12 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Fertilizer with 125 points, Cement with 123 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 73 points, Technology & Communication with 62 points and Commercial Banks with 44 points.

The most points added to the index was by LUCK which contributed 79 points followed by FFC with 47 points, SYS with 41 points, EFERT with 36 points and ENGRO with 36 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Miscellaneous with 50 points, Tobacco with 2 points, Close – End Mutual Fund with 1 points and Property with 1 points.

The most points taken off the index was by PSEL which stripped the index of 51 points followed by GLAXO with 4 points, HBL with 3 points, BOP with 2 points and EPCL with 2 points.

All Share Volume increased by 129.78 Million to 324.44 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.77.38 Billion.

Total companies traded were 341 compared to 329 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 211 closed up, 107 closed down while 23 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 29,815 to 116,920.

Value Traded increased by 4.32 Billion to Rs.9.66 Billion
