Banks’ deposits increase 21.3% YoY to Rs28.4tr in April

Banks’ deposits surge 22% to Rs31.1tr in June

May 20, 2024 (MLN): The total deposits held by scheduled banks have moved up by 21.29% YoY to Rs28.42 trillion in April 2024 compared to Rs23.43tr in April 2023.

According to data released by the SBP, Banks' deposits have edged higher by 0.33% MoM, compared to Rs28.32tr in March 2024.

Total advances decreased by 0.68% to Rs12.03tr compared to Rs12.11tr from a year ago. On a monthly basis, advances increased by 0.54% from their value of Rs11.96tr in March 2024.

Advances to Deposit Ratio (ADR) stood at 42.33% showing a decrease of 936 bps on a yearly basis, while showing an increase of 9 bps on a monthly basis.

Total Investments of Scheduled Banks stood at Rs27.28tr compared to Rs19.69tr from a year ago and Rs26.27tr from a month ago, showing a YoY increase of 38.52% and a MoM increase of 3.85%.

Investment to Deposit Ratio (IDR) moved up by 1,194 bps to 96.01% compared to April 2023 and increased by 325 bps when compared to a month ago.
