December 01, 2023 (MLN): The benchmark index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) surged by 1,160 or 1.92% DoD to close Friday's session at 61,691.

The index remained positive throughout the day, showing an intraday high of 61,779.73 (+1,248.45) and a low of 60,576.42 (+45.14) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 295.893 million shares.

On a weekly basis, the index continued to record impressive gains, registering an increase of 2,677 points or 4.53% WoW.

To note, this surge follows a staggering 8,611 points or 16.59% gain in the month of November, which was the second-highest return in percentage terms in over a decade.

In today's session, of the 100 index companies 70 closed up, 10 closed down, 1 was unchanged, while 19 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was supported by Cement with 299.16, Automobile Assembler with 128.12, Fertilizer with 126.65, Commercial Banks with 106.96, and Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 93.55 points.

Companies adding points to the index were MTL with 115, ENGRO with 94.81, LUCK with 89.82, PPL with 59.76, and DAWH with 47.62 points.

KSE-100 Index was let down by Real Estate Investment Trust with 0.84, and Modarabas with 0.36 points.

Companies dragging the index lower were UPFL with 9.33, POL with 5.83, PABC with 5.3, PSEL with 3.36 and BOP with 3.35 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 41,045.38 with a net gain of 721.10 points.

Total market volume was 531.334 million shares compared to 467.160 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs21.56 billion showing an increase of Rs2.81bn.

There were 214,506 trades reported in 387 companies with 297 closing up, 74 closing down and 16 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 20,239 points or 48.82% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 21,271 points, equivalent to 52.62% in the KSE-100.
