PKR falls 4 paisa against USD

January 22, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) fell by 3.72 paisa or 0.01% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.85 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.82.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.85 and a low (ask) of 278.70.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.50 for buying and 281.30 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR weakened 1.29 rupees or 0.45% against the Euro, closing at 290.30 compared to the previous value of 289.01.

Against the British Pound, PKR fell by 1.94 rupees or 0.57% to 343.48 compared to 341.54 a day ago.

The local unit decreased 83.60 paisa or 0.27% against Swiss franc to close at 307.55.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value rose 0.29 paisa or 0.16% to close the session at 1.7870 versus 1.7899 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee appreciated 1.62 paisa or 0.04% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.29 from 38.30.

The local currency fell by 1.59 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 74.33. While it weakened by 0.81 paisa or 0.01% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.92.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has depreciated against the US Dollar by 51.15 paisa or 0.18%. While it has fell 30.27 paisa or 0.11% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2bps to 11.61% and 11.86%.
