BML drops DM Holdings deal, eyes Rs10bn sponsor injection

September 10, 2026 (MLN): Bank Makramah Limited (BML) has ended the potential equity investment proposal from DM Holdings Limited-led Consortium, which had been under consideration since June 11, 2026.

On June 11, 2026, BML’s Board of Directors, in its 158th meeting, had accorded in-principle approval to proceed further with discussions and engagement regarding the Consortium’s Letter of Interest (LOI) to acquire a significant shareholding interest in BML.

The proposal involved a capital injection of up to Rs26bn. Any investment was subject to satisfactory due diligence, successful negotiation of the transaction between the parties, and receipt of applicable corporate and regulatory approvals.

BML has now disclosed that the said proposal is no longer being pursued.

Meanwhile, as already disclosed on the PSX on August 18, 2026, the Board of Directors had approved the investment proposal received from the Bank’s Sponsor, Nasser Abdullah Hussain Lootah, for the injection of a further Rs10bn into the Bank, subject to applicable corporate and regulatory approvals.
