PKR displays slight movement against USD on Monday

April 15, 2019 (MLN): The value of Pakistani rupee (PKR) more or less remained the same against USD on Monday, as its closing value stood at Rs. 141.3957 as compared to last session’s closing of Rs. 141.3923. The Open Market Rate for Dollar was quoted at 141.40/142.80.

However, the local currency depreciated by 36.5 paisa against Pound Sterling in the interbank market, as it closed at Rs. 185.1647 as compared to Rs. 184.7997 on Friday.

Similarly, PKR lost 8.87 paisa against Euro, as it closed at Rs. 159.9892 on the first session of the week as compared to the closing value of Rs. 159.9005 on Friday.

Meanwhile, in the money market, the Overnight repo rate increased to 11.00/11.25 from 10.70/10.90 percent on Friday while the 1 Week rate remained at 10.70/10.85. Discounting figures released by the SBP showed Rs.82 Billion had been borrowed by banks through its reverse repo facility, compared to Rs.52 Billion on Friday.
