CDWP clears Rs116bn projects under Uraan Pakistan

September 11, 2026 (MLN): The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved and recommended seven development projects worth around Rs116 billion under the government's Uraan Pakistan development agenda.
Five projects with a combined cost of Rs21.59 billion were approved by the CDWP, while two projects worth Rs94.301 billion were recommended to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).
The largest project recommended to ECNEC was the Federal Board of Revenue's (FBR) Transforming and Digitalizing Revenue Administration (TADRA) project, costing Rs57.109 billion.
The project is proposed to be financed through foreign funding under Asian Development Bank technical assistance through a soft-term loan and aims to strengthen revenue administration and broaden Pakistan's tax base.
The FBR told the forum that the investment could help increase the tax-to-GDP ratio to 13.5% by 2029.
The TADRA project was recommended subject to a detailed review of its business model by the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE).
The PakSat-2 Satellite System, costing Rs37.192 billion, was also recommended to ECNEC.
Meanwhile, the CDWP approved the revised Promotion of Olive Cultivation on Commercial Scale in Pakistan – Phase-II project at a cost of Rs5.015 billion.
The project envisages expansion of olive farms in Balochistan and newly merged districts, with the government targeting eventual olive plantations over one million acres.
The CDWP also approved the Rs3.623bn GEOSPATIALx COMPLEX, aimed at establishing a Geo-AI Development and Innovation Hub.
A Rs5.758bn project for revamping facilities at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad, was also approved.
Other approved projects include the Rs338.179m improvement of WAPDA's High Frequency Radios Network for water resources management and the revised Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad Khan Center in Basic Sciences.
Planning Minister Professor Ahsan Iqbal directed authorities to ensure measurable outcomes, stronger institutional capacity and timely execution of the approved projects.
