KP minimum wage implementation sought for autonomous bodies

September 11, 2026 (MLN): Employees Union of the Small Industries Development Board (SIDB) has called for immediate implementation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Rs45,000 minimum monthly wage for employees of autonomous bodies and daily-wage workers.

Sahibzada Naseem Khan, President of the SIDB Employees Union, said the provincial government had increased the minimum monthly wage to Rs45,000 in Budget 2026, effective July 2026.

However, he claimed that the announced increase has yet to be practically implemented across autonomous and attached bodies.

The union president said employees of autonomous institutions should not be excluded from a government-wide wage policy, particularly amid rising costs of food, electricity, education, healthcare and transportation.

He urged Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to issue clear directions to relevant departments and autonomous bodies to implement the Rs45,000 minimum wage from July without further administrative delays.

Naseem Khan also called on labour unions and employee organizations across KP to raise the issue of minimum-wage workers collectively.

He said the wage increase should translate into actual financial relief for low-paid workers rather than remain a provision in the provincial budget.
