Trading activity at PMEX soars by 22% DoD

May 10, 2024 (MLN): The trading activity at the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) on Thursday surged by 22% DoD to clock in at Rs26.55 billion with the number of lots traded at 19,978. 

While, the commodity exchange closed at 10,567, up by 0.62% DoD.

Gold remained in the limelight, contributing significantly to the trading volume with transactions worth Rs18.22bn. Following closely behind, Currencies through COTS recorded trading valued at Rs2.71bn.

NSDQ 100 also made a prominent spot, clocking in at Rs1.54bn. In addition, Silver, Crude Oil and Platinum attracted substantial attention from investors, and their transactions stood at around Rs1.49bn, Rs620 million, and Rs971m, respectively.

Moreover, Natural Gas transactions reached Rs137m, DJ at Rs437.85m, Copper at Rs96.4m, S&P 500 at Rs179.79m, JPY equity at Rs74.52m and Brent at Rs21.7m.

In the agricultural commodities segment, Cotton saw active trading, with 39 lots amounting to Rs42.53m changing hands.
