Thakot – Havelian Motorway to be completed by Feb 2020

Work on Thakot – Havelian Motorway is going on smoothly and the project is expected to be completed by February 2020.

National Highway Authority (NHA) Spokesman Kashif Zaman told APP that the motorway was part in early harvest Project category of Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and it is expected that around 15 km of this project from Havelian onwards will be opened for traffic by May this year.

He said that 120-kilometre section of the motorway will cost of Rs 134 billion as China Exim bank will fund 90 percent of the project, while the remainder will be funded by Pakistan. Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had performed its ground breaking on August 28, 2016.

The motorway starts from Havelian and passes through Abbottabad, Mansehra and Shinkiari ends at Thakot. It will have five tunnels -two at Abbotabad, and one each at Battal, Karmong and Mansehra.
