Sale of DAP depicts meager rise of 2.3% in December

January 23, 2020 (MLN): The DAP offtake during the month of December, 2019, was 193 thousand tonnes, representing an increase of 2.3 percent over the corresponding period of last year.

Total DAP availability was 685 thousand tonnes during the month under review. It comprised of 558 thousand tonnes leftover of previous month, 72 thousand tonnes domestic production and 55 thousand tonnes of imported supplies. Thus, the closing balance was 493 thousand tonnes.

The sale of DAP increased by 27 and 18 percent in Sindh and Balochistan respectively while it decreased by 5 and 38 percent in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) respectively

DAP availability in current season of Rabi 2019-20 would be around 1,638 thousand tonnes, which includes 378 thousand tonnes of opening inventory, 873 thousand tonnes of imported supplies and domestic production of 387 thousand tonnes. Expected offtake of DAP during current Rabi season is about 1,276 thousand tonnes, leaving a balance of 362 thousand tonnes for next season.
