Auto sales accelerate 36% in August

September 14, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan's passenger car
sales rose 36.4% year-on-year in August to 13,717 units, up from 10,057 units
in August 2025, as per data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers
Association (PAMA).
However, sales fell 20.3% on a monthly basis, down from
17,216 units recorded in July 2026, pointing to a cooling of the previous
month's momentum.
On a cumulative basis, 2MFY27 passenger car sales stood at
30,933 units, up 79.9% compared to 17,192 units in the same period last year
(2MFY26).

In the company-wise breakup, Toyota's Corolla, Yaris, and
Corolla Cross lineup posted sales of 3,079 units in August, up from 2,553 units
a year earlier. Honda Cars (Civic and City) recorded a sharp jump to 2,553
units against 699 units in August 2025.
Suzuki's Alto remained the top-selling model in the
below-1000cc segment with 5,339 units, up from 4,193 units last year, while
Swift sales stayed largely flat at 1,472 units. Cultus sales, however, declined
to 296 units from 497 units.
Hyundai Elantra sales rose to 458 units from 145 units,
while Sonata slipped to 30 units from 58 units.
The jeeps, pickups, and SUV segment lagged, with sales
falling 53.9% YoY to 1,841 units, dragged by lower volumes across Toyota's
Fortuner and IMVs and Honda's BR-V and HR-V.
Meanwhile, the commercial vehicle segment saw trucks and buses sales at 875 units, while the agriculture-linked tractor segment recorded 1,052 units in sales for the month.
