April 17, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 70,333.32 showing a decrease of 150.34 points or 0.21%.

The index traded in a range of 688.22 points showing an intraday high of 70,725.50 (+241.84) and a low of 70,037.28 (-446.38) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 221.82 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 41 closed up, 51 closed down, 3 were unchanged, while 5 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was let down by Fertilizer with 141.36, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 94.28, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 31.08, Power Generation & Distribution with 29.75, and Engineering with 28.79 points.

On the flip-side, the index was supported by Commercial Banks with 147.51, Cement with 26.55, Food & Personal Care Products with 14.07, Leather & Tanneries with 7.38, and Transport with 6.53 points.

Companies that dragged the index lower were EFERT with 46.76, OGDC with 43.55, ENGRO with 43.1, FFC with 32.15 and PPL with 30.27 points.

On the other hand, companies that added points to the index were BAFL with 41.48, UBL with 34.43, BAHL with 22.37, FCCL with 20.66, and MEBL with 20.15 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 46,233.00 with a net loss of 63.90 points.

Total market volume was 442.097 million shares compared to 548.418 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs16.03 billion showing a decrease of Rs5.01bn.

There were 198,912 trades reported in 354 companies with 146 closing up, 193 closing down and 15 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 28,881 points or 69.67% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 7,882 points, equivalent to 12.62%.
