May 31, 2023 (MLN): Bears took the charge of local bourse on Wednesday as investors opted for profit booking amid ongoing political and economic mayhem in the country. 

 As a result, the benchmark KSE-100 Index closed the trading session at 41,330.56, showing a decrease of 341.09 points.

The index traded in a range of 587.2 points showing an intraday high of 41,852.23 and a low of 41,265.03.

The total Volume of the KSE100 Index was 90.8 million shares.

Of the companies in KSE100 20 closed up, 69 closed down, 3 were unchanged while 8 remained untraded.

KSE100 Index was let down by Technology & Communication with 86.95, Cement with 67.92, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 51.53, Chemical with 35.66 and Fertilizer with 18.91 points.

Companies dragging the index lower were LUCK with 65.05, SYS with 60.25, FFC with 33.32, TRG with 19.68 and OGDC with 17.35 points.

KSE100 index was supported by Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 14.17, Tobacco with 7.42, Paper & Board with 4.58, Sugar & Allied Industries with 4.21 and Synthetic & Rayon with 2.17 points.

Companies adding points to the index were UBL with 22.77, DAWH with 16.33, MCB with 11.62, EFERT with 9.26 and PIOC with 8.21 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 27,703.23 with a net loss of 204.72 points.

The total market volume was 158.103 million shares with the traded value being recorded at Rs6.11 billion.

There were 89,547 trades reported in 329 companies with 86 closing up, 222 closing down and 21 remaining unchanged.
