May 07, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index ended Tuesday's trading session largely stable at 72,761.20, showing a marginal drop of 3.04 points.

The index traded in a range of 552.13 points showing an intraday high of 73,260.09 (+495.85) and a low of 72,707.96 (-56.28) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 269.93 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 45 closed up, 52 closed down, while 3 were unchanged.

KSE-100 index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (147.32pts), Fertilizer (79.42pts), Cement (60.19pts), Textile Composite (27.62pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (23.92pts).

On the flip-side, the index was supported by Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (131.73pts), Power Generation & Distribution (102.87pts), Pharmaceuticals (76.04pts), Cable & Electrical Goods (24.02pts), and Leather & Tanneries (16.71pts).

Companies that dragged the index lower were PPL (67.58pts), EFERT (45.92pts), OGDC (43.58pts), MEBL (41.61pts), and MARI (30.64pts).

On the other hand, companies that added points to the index were DAWH (130.66pts), HUBC (66.95pts), KAPCO (33.14pts), HINOON (31.09pts), and PAEL (24.02pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 47,235.68 with a net loss of 115.47 points.

Total market volume was 621.83 million shares compared to 578.39m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs24.97 billion showing an increase of Rs449.3m.

There were 274,929 trades reported in 375 companies with 200 closing up, 152 closing down and 23 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 31,309 points or 75.53% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 10,310 points, equivalent to 16.51%.
