December 09, 2022 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index closed in the green zone on Friday, gaining 46.67 points (0.11% DoD) to settle at 41,698.28 after making a high of 41,747.57 in intraday trading.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange showed rangebound movements for the first few hours of trading. However, the buying activity picked up on reports that the $4.2 billion Saudi support had been finalized.

Arif Habib Commodities Chief Executive Officer Ahsan Mehanti said that the IMF loan of $1.18bn tranche and rupee stability played a catalyst role in the positive close.

By the session’s end, the total volumes of the KSE-100 index stood at 45.50mn shares, increased by 37.01% DoD from 28.66mn shares traded on Thursday.

In terms of sectors, most of the positive contributions came from oil & gas, commercial banks, engineering, technology, and paper & board which cumulatively added 90.69 points to the index tally by the day’s end.

Out of 89 companies’ shares traded today 42 companies recorded gains and 40 companies sustained losses and seven company share remains unchanged.

Meanwhile, the volume leaders on the benchmark index were CNERGY (3.73mn), PPL (3.59mn), OGDC (3.44mn), FFBL (3.20mn), and UNITY (2.85mn).

The scrips which gained the most during the session included: MUREB (4.13%), MARI (0.63%), COLG (0.51%), POML (4.38%), and INDU (0.49%). On the other hand, the stocks that emerged as net losers during the day included ARPL (1.19%), ABOT (0.63%), PSEL (0.21%), GLAXO (2.36%), and PSMC (1.37%).
