February 13, 2023 (MLN): The capital market on Monday observed a mixed session on Monday as the benchmark KSE-100 index ended the trading session today with a 24.83 points or 0.06% decline to settle at 41,716.95.

During the session, investors' engagement remained high in the E&P sector due to the possibility of a gas tariff increase.

Speaking to Mettis Global Sana Tawfik, Research Analyst at Arif Habib Limited stated, “Today market traded in the green zone most of the day, due to positive advancements in the disbursement of the ninth tranche of IMF’s Extended Fund Facility.

Talking about the weekly outlook, she said, “The market will oscillate between the red and green zone until any positive news comes from the IMF side.”

The Index traded in a range of 351.96 points or 0.84 percent of the previous close, showing an intraday high of 41,992.53 and a low of 41,640.57.

Of the 90 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 39 closed up 49 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 110.59 million shares.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Technology & Communication with 71 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 53 points, Automobile Assembler with 16 points, Pharmaceuticals with 15 points, and Chemical with 7 points.

The most points taken off the index were by SYS which stripped the index of 66 points followed by OGDC with 39 points, MTL with 24 points, MCB with 11 points, and FFC with 9 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Power Generation & Distribution with 64 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 27 points, Fertilizer with 26 points, Automobile Parts & Accessories with 14 points, and Cement with 11 points.

The most points added to the index were by HUBC which contributed 49 points followed by ENGRO with 36 points, SNGP with 25 points, BAHL with 20 points, and THALL with 14 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 89.48 million to 192.41 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs3.44bn.

The total number of companies traded was 318 compared to 328 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 150 closed up, 148 closed down and 20 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 44,239 to 109,243.

Value Traded decreased by 7.05bn to Rs7.66bn
