September 05, 2023 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index closed Tuesday's trading session at 45,491.48 showing a decrease of 0.47% or 215.94 points.

Despite the positive news flows regarding Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Asim Munir's recent meeting with the business community, in which he underscored the crucial role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and its potential to attract significant investments amounting to $100 billion, the stock market remained unresponsive.

The index traded in a range of 533.69 points showing an intraday high of 45,950.68 (+243.25) and a low of 45,416.99 (-290.44) points.

Total Volume of the KSE100 Index was 55.028 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 29 closed up, 54 closed down, 6 were unchanged while 11 remained untraded.

KSE100 Index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 67.1, Commercial Banks with 61.47, Power Generation & Distribution with 29.07, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 16.08 and Refinery with 15.5 points.

Companies dragging the index lower were BAHL with 34.64, OGDC with 29.82, PPL with 28.38, HUBC with 27.37 and UBL with 17.43 points.

KSE100 index was supported by Cement with 4.3, Textile Spinning with 3.29, Glass & Ceramics with 1.79, Cable & Electrical Goods with 1.72 and Property with 1.64 points.

Companies adding points to the index were HBL with 25.4, TRG with 10.3, MLCF with 10.26, ENGRO with 6.7 and DGKC with 5.66 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 30,313.56 with a net loss of 140.61 points.

Total market volume was 123.239 million shares compared to 139.251 from the previous session while traded value being recorded at 3.69 billion showing a decrease of Rs.0.79 billion.

There was 77,845 trades reported in 296 companies with 103 closing up, 164 closing down and 29 remaining unchanged.
