March 07, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index concluded Thursday's trading session at 65,603.09 showing a decrease of 53.53 points or 0.08%.

The index traded in a range of 686.47 points showing an intraday high of 65,874.15 (+217.53) and a low of 65,187.69 (-468.94) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 158.393 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 34 closed up, 57 closed down, 3 were unchanged, while 6 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was let down by Commercial Banks with 101.21, Fertilizer with 54.24, Food & Personal Care Products with 18.69, Cement with 9.07, and Technology & Communication with 7.6 points.

On the flip-side, the index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 94.54, Cable & Electrical Goods with 21.19, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 16.62, Power Generation & Distribution with 14.16, and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 7.82 points.

Companies that dragged the index lower were BAHL with 37.09, MCB with 30.22, ENGRO with 27.8, MEBL with 26.3 and NESTLE with 21.61 points.

On the other hand, companies that added points to the index were OGDC with 53.75, PAEL with 21.19, HUBC with 20.94, PPL with 19.51, and DAWH with 18.54 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 43,469.50 with a net gain of 15.31 points.

Total market volume was 354.153 million shares compared to 419.737 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs14.44 billion showing a decrease of Rs3.87bn.

There were 166,104 trades reported in 351 companies with 145 closing up, 184 closing down and 22 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 24,150 points or 58.26% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 3,152 points, equivalent to 5.05%.
