PSX Closing Bell: Bounce Back

June 26, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index closed Wednesday's trading session at 78,275.65 showing an increase of 335.07 points or 0.43%.

The index remained positive throughout the day, showing an intraday high of 78,679.50 (+738.92) and a low of 77,968.91 (+28.33) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 219.56 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 39 closed up, 57 closed down, while 4 were unchanged.

KSE-100 index was supported by Fertilizer (252.75pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (180.48pts), Power Generation & Distribution (35.87pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (8.37pts), and Miscellaneous (6.77pts).

On the flip-side, the index was let down by Commercial Banks (31.16pts), Food & Personal Care Products (29.52pts), Refinery (19.62pts), Technology & Communication (15.88pts), and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (14.24pts).

Companies adding points to the index were FFC (221.16pts), OGDC (129.16pts), BAHL (76.77pts), PPL (34.66pts), and EFERT (24.67pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were HBL (48.56pts), NESTLE (17.49pts), MEBL (16.11pts), NBP (12.32pts), and MUGHAL (11.7pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 49,314.22 with a net gain of 67.16 points.

Total market volume was 469.76 million shares compared to 292.19m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs19.78 billion showing an increase of Rs8.36bn.

There were 207,513 trades reported in 454 companies with 149 closing up, 248 closing down, and 57 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 36,823 points or 88.83% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 15,825 points, equivalent to 25.34%.
