Workers’ Remittances falls to $3.3bn in Feb 2026

March 10, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan received workers' remittances of $3.29bn in February 2026, down 5.1% from January's $3.46bn, according to the latest data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

 

On a cumulative basis, in 8MFY26, total remittances came in at $26.5bn as it continued the upward trajectory seen throughout the fiscal year at 10% increase YoY.

 

 In a notable shift, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) displaced Saudi Arabia to become the largest contributor to workers' remittances in February 2026, with inflows totalling $696.24m, up 5.8% from January's $658.06m.

The year on year increase also came in at 6% from $657.65m in February 2025.

Within the UAE, Dubai contributed $566.24m, Abu Dhabi $101.93m, Sharjah $12.17m, and other emirates $15.90m.

Saudi Arabia slipped to the second position, with inflows of $685.50m, down 10.7% month-on-month from $767.38m in January 2026.

However, they were 8% lower than $745.19m in February 2025.

The United Kingdom (UK) remained the third-largest source, contributing $532.03m, slightly lower than January's $574.81m, but sustaining its position as a major remittance corridor. On yearly basis it also gained 7% from $496.64m last February.

Remittances from the United States (USA) stood at $319.46m, up from $296.34m in the previous month, marking a notable month-on-month improvement. There was also a 3% increase on yearly basis from 309.63m in February 2025.

Workers' remittances from European Union (EU) countries reached $395.32m, reflecting a decline from December 2025's $482.63m. Among EU member states, Italy led with $114.61m, followed by Spain $66.17m, Germany $65.30m, France $44.58m, Greece $39.41m, Ireland $22.17m, Belgium $17.39m, Sweden $8.52m, Denmark $8.06m, and Netherlands $9.12m.

Other GCC countries (excluding Saudi Arabia and UAE) contributed $317.19m, slightly lower than the previous month. Key contributors included Oman $92.60m, Qatar $102.80m, Kuwait $77.02m, and Bahrain $44.77m.

Among other notable countries, Australia sent $101.06m, Canada $73.79m, Malaysia $14.45m, Norway $14.35m, South Africa $21.02m, Switzerland $5.98m, Japan $5.82m, South Korea $9.13m, and other countries contributed $96.53m.
