September 7, 2021 (MLN): The local bourse on Tuesday remained volatile throughout the trading session on the back of MSCI's upcoming decision on re-classification of Pakistan to Frontier Markets Index (FM) from the current classification of Emerging Markets Index (EM).

Weakening Pakistani Rupee (PKR) against the greenback also contributed to bearish sentiments in the bourse.

Accordingly, the KSE-100 Index closed at a level of 46,729.96 with a 188.56 point or 0.40 percent decline.

The Index traded in a range of 375.42 points or 0.80 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 46,995.10 and a low of 46,619.68.

Of the 93 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 27 closed up 63 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 126.00 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Cement with 75 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 39 points, Automobile Assembler with 29 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 23 points and Chemical with 21 points.

The most points taken off the index was by LUCK which stripped the index of 39 points followed by TRG with 19 points, HBL with 15 points, OGDC with 14 points and PSO with 13 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Commercial Banks with 16 points, Insurance with 15 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 10 points, Paper & Board with 9 points and Fertilizer with 5 points.

The most points added to the index was by NESTLE which contributed 23 points followed by HMB with 17 points, MEBL with 14 points, PKGS with 12 points and IGIHL with 10 points.

All Share Volume increased by 5.90 Million to 423.76 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.27.33 Billion.

Total companies traded were 520 compared to 382 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 129 closed up, 373 closed down while 18 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 3,495 to 127,860.

Value Traded decreased by 0.74 Billion to Rs.11.29 Billion
