Intraday Report: KSE-100 index tops 75

September 06, 2023 (MLN): The Pakistan equity market had a relatively quiet day until the final two trading hours when it surged in response to the remarkable strength of the PKR against the USD in the open market.

As a result, the benchmark KSE-100 index concluded today's session at 45,807.58, marking a gain of 316.09 points or 0.69% DoD.

Notably, the PKR made significant strides in the open market, appreciating by 10 rupees today, taking the total gain to 20 rupees in just two days. This development has also led to the PKR exchange rate gap shrinking below the IMF's suggested limit of 1.25%.

The KSE-100 index traded in a range of 393.9 points showing an intraday high of 45,854.18 (+362.69) and a low of 45,460.28 (-31.21) points.

Total Volume of the KSE100 Index was 74.243 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 61 closed up, 24 closed down, 7 were unchanged while 8 remained untraded.

KSE100 index was supported by Commercial Banks with 79.85, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 59.18, Power Generation & Distribution with 46.07, Technology & Communication with 28.63 and Cement with 26.68 points.

Companies adding points to the index were UBL with 35.88, PPL with 24.37, KAPCO with 23.47, OGDC with 21.51 and DAWH with 20.43 points.

KSE100 Index was let down by Tobacco with 8.96, Insurance with 6.58, Property with 1.64, Close – End Mutual Fund with 0.84 and Pharmaceuticals with 0.72 points.

Companies dragging the index lower were PAKT with 8.96, EFERT with 8.63, NML with 7.6, LUCK with 5.89 and LCI with 4.87 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 30,470.02 with a net gain of 156.46 points.

Total market volume was 139.711 million shares compared to 123.239 from the previous session while traded value being recorded at 4.81 billion showing an increase of Rs.1.12 billion.

There was 80,691 trades reported in 304 companies with 181 closing up, 99 closing down and 24 remaining unchanged.
