May 15, 2023 (MLN): The capital market on Monday kicked off the week on a flat note. However, buying activity was witnessed during the later hours which led the benchmark KSE-100 index ended the trading session with a gain of 230.85 points to close at 41,718.43.

The Index traded in a range of 408.23 points of the previous close, showing an intraday high of 41,718.42 and a low of 41,310.19.

Of the 91 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 51 closed up 34 closed down, while 6 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 49.99 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Fertilizer with 79 points, Commercial Banks with 35 points, Technology & Communication with 26 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 24 points and Chemical with 22 points.

The most points added to the index were by ENGRO which contributed 44 points followed by POL with 29 points, FFC with 28 points, UBL with 26 points, and DAWH with 23 points.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 22 points, Engineering with 3 points, Pharmaceuticals with 2 points, Insurance with 2 points and Refinery with 1 points.

The most points taken off the index was by OGDC which stripped the index of 26 points followed by PPL with 23 points, PIOC with 5 points, MEBL with 5 points and ILP with 3 points.

All Share Volume increased by 19.70 Million to 109.17 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.13.31 Billion.

The total number of companies traded was 311 compared to 308 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 143 closed up, 139 closed down while 29 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 5,357 to 64,304.

Value Traded decreased by 0.01 Billion to Rs.3.39 Billion.
