CPI Preview: Inflation to fall below 14% YoY in May

PSX Close: KSE-100 Index gains by 58.74 points

September 08, 2022 (MLN): Another lack lustered day was observed at Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) as investors’ participation faded due to economic and political unrest.

After swinging between a narrow band of 41,939.45 and 41,676.90, the benchmark KSE-100 Index ended the trading session on Thursday with a 58.74 point or 0.14% gain to close at 41,824.79.

Of the 94 traded companies in the KSE-100 Index 39 closed up 48 closed down, while 7 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 63.31 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 96 points, Technology & Communication with 21 points, Textile Composite with 10 points, Chemical with 9 points and Glass & Ceramics with 7 points.

The most points added to the index was by CHCC which contributed 24 points followed by TRG with 22 points, LUCK with 18 points, DGKC with 13 points and LOTCHEM with 13 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Commercial Banks with 50 points, Automobile Assembler with 12 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 10 points, Fertilizer with 6 points and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 5 points.

The most points taken off the index was by UBL which stripped the index of 16 points followed by BAHL with 10 points, HBL with 8 points, MTL with 8 points and POL with 7 points.

All Share Volume increased by 15.77 Million to 108.70 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.4.83 Billion.

Total companies traded were 320 compared to 337 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 145 closed up, 151 closed down while 24 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 10,722 to 70,655.

Value Traded increased by 1.23 Billion to Rs.4.39 Billion
