PMEX trading activity surges by 82% DoD

May 02, 2024 (MLN): The trading activity at the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) on Wednesday soared by 82% DoD to clock in at Rs35.54 billion with the number of lots traded at 26,261 compared to the previous session close of Rs19.51bn.

While, the commodity exchange closed at 10,275, down by 0.54% DoD.

Gold remained in the limelight, contributing significantly to the trading volume with transactions worth Rs20.57bn. Following closely behind, Currencies through COTS recorded trading valued at Rs6bn.

NSDQ 100 also made a prominent spot, clocking in at Rs2.54bn. In addition, Crude Oil, Silver, and Platinum attracted substantial attention from investors as well and their transactions stood around Rs2.59bn, Rs1.5bn and Rs1.37bn, respectively.

Moreover, Natural Gas transactions reached Rs74m, DJ at Rs59.2m, Copper at Rs97.7m, S&P 500 at Rs166.54m, JPY equity at Rs116.9m and Brent at Rs40.33m.

In the agricultural commodities segment, Cotton saw active trading, with 32 lots amounting to Rs34.33m changing hands.
