October 03, 2018 (MLN): Prime Minister Imran Khan has issued directives to immediately remove Securities & Exchange Commission Pakistan (SECP) chairman Shaukat Hussain, from the rank.

According to local media reports, the Ministry of Finance presented an account of Abbasi’s appointment before Khan, declaring that the SECP chief’s appointment is illegal and he was promoted thrice in a span of four months.

The document disclosed that Abbasi abetted Zafar Hajazi, who is accused of altering the record of mills owned by Sharif family. Khan was further apprised that Abbasi provided misleading information in the Panama Papers case.

In light of these disclosures, Khan approved the dismissal of Shaukat Hussain Abbasi from chairmanship of SECP.
