PKR holds firm against USD

August 13, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani currency continued to hold firm against the US dollar on Thursday as it gained 0.83 paisa in the interbank market, closing at PKR 277.65.

During the session, the rupee moved between an intraday high bid of 277.85 and a low ask of 277.65.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 278.00 for buying and PKR 278.70 for selling.

The local currency also gained ground against major currencies. It appreciated 37.05 paisa, or 0.12%, against the euro to close at PKR 319.98, compared with PKR 320.35 previously.

Against the British pound, the rupee advanced 88.58 paisa, or 0.24%, to PKR 374.26 from PKR 375.15.

The PKR gained 24.13 paisa, or 0.07%, against the Swiss franc, closing at PKR 341.54.

Against the Japanese yen, the local currency strengthened 0.06 paisa, or 0.03%, to close at PKR 1.7421 versus PKR 1.7427 a day earlier.

The rupee edged up 0.03 paisa against the Chinese yuan to close at PKR 41.16.

Against the Saudi riyal, the PKR gained 0.32 paisa to close at PKR 73.95, while it rose 0.23 paisa against the UAE dirham to PKR 75.60.

On a fiscal-year-to-date basis, the rupee has appreciated 50.92 paisa, or 0.18%, against the US dollar. On a calendar-year-to-date basis, it has strengthened by PKR 2.47, or 0.89%.

In the money market, the benchmark six-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates increased by 1 basis point to 11.51% and 11.76%, respectively.
