June 16, 2023 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 17.28 Paisa against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session as the currency settled the trade at PKR 287.19 per USD, compared to the previous session's closing of PKR 287.36 per USD.
The currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 287.75 and a low (ask) of 287.65.
In the open market, Exchange Companies quoted the dollar at 294 for buying and 297 for selling.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR lost 3.03 rupees against the Euro, closing at 314.21 compared to the previous value of 311.18.
The British Pound became more expensive by 3.57 rupees closing at 367.26 compared to 363.69 from a day ago.
The Swiss franc saw gains of 4.01 rupees, closing at 321.96 compared to 317.95 from the previous session.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR lost 0.17 paisa, closing at 2.03 versus 2.03 a day ago.
The Chinese Yuan gained 14.24 paisa, closing at 40.31 against 40.17 from the previous session.
The Saudi Riyal decreased in value by 4.71 paisa from 78.23 a day ago to 78.19.
The U.A.E Dirham closed at 76.57 with a loss of 5.43 paisa from its values of 76.62 a day ago.
During the current financial year, PKR has depreciated against the Dollar by 82.35 rupees or 28.67%. While the current calendar year has seen PKR depreciate by 60.76 rupees or 21.16%.
Furthermore, The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) conducted an OMO in which it injected Rs2.69 trillion into the market for 3 and 77 days.
