PKR loses 5 paisa against USD

November 05, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) weakened by 5.03 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 277.84 per USD, compared to previous closing of 277.79.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 277.95 and a low (ask) of 277.85.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 276.82 for buying and 278.71 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR appreciated 11.19 paisa or 0.04% against the Euro, closing at 302.52 compared to the previous value of 302.64.

Against the British Pound, PKR deteriorated by 20.41 paisa or 0.06% to 360.51 compared to 360.30 a day ago.

The local unit fell 42.99 paisa or 0.13% against Swiss franc to close at 321.63.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value strengthened 0.29 paisa or 0.16% to close the session at 1.8240 versus 1.8269 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee appreciated 4.28 paisa or 0.11% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.10 from 39.14.

The local currency remained stable against Saudi Riyal at 73.96. While it depreciated by 1.37 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.64.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has strengthened against the US Dollar by 50.33 paisa or 0.18%. While it has strengthened 4.02 rupees or 1.45% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 4 bps to 13.04% and 13.29%.
