PKR gains 12 paisa per USD

March 11, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 11.54 paisa or 0.04% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.95 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 280.07.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.05 and a low (ask) of 279.95.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.5 for buying and 281.75 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR fell 2.09 rupees or 0.69% against the Euro, closing at 305.22 compared to the previous value of 303.13.

Against the British Pound, PKR deteriorated by 71.91 paisa or 0.20% to 361.73 compared to 361.01 a day ago.

The local unit fell 1.35 paisa or 0.00% against Swiss franc to close at 318.40.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value deteriorated 0.60 paisa or 0.32% to close the session at 1.9048 versus 1.8988 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee decreased 16.38 paisa or 0.42% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.72 from 38.56.

The local currency increased by 0.49 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.65. While it strengthened by 3.24 paisa or 0.04% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.22.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has weakened against the US Dollar by 1.61 rupees or 0.58%. While it has depreciated 1.40 rupees or 0.50% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates increased by 22bps to 11.75% and 12.00%.
