August 07, 2023 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 46.3 paisa against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session as the currency settled the trade at PKR 287.43 per USD, compared to the previous session's closing of PKR 286.97 per USD.
The currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 287.55 and a low (ask) of 287.45.
In the open market, Exchange Companies quoted the dollar at 292 for buying and 295 for selling.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR lost 1.89 rupees against the Euro, closing at 315.87 compared to the previous value of 313.99.
The British Pound became more expensive by 1.64 rupees closing at 366.17 compared to 364.53 from a day ago.
The Swiss franc saw gains of 1.76 rupees, closing at 328.8292 compared to 327.0648 from the previous session.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR lost 1.04 paisa, closing at 2.0219 versus 2.0115 a day ago.
The Chinese Yuan gained 0.99 paisa, closing at 39.97 against 39.96 from the previous session.
The Saudi Riyal increased in value by 12.39 paisa from 78.13 a day ago to 78.25.
The U.A.E Dirham closed at 76.62 with a gain of 12.95 Paisa from its value of 76.49 a day ago.
During the current financial year, PKR has depreciated against the Dollar by 1.44 rupees or 0.5%. While the current calendar year has seen PKR depreciate by 61 rupees or 21.22%.
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6-Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1.0 bps to 22.68 and 22.93%.
