August 10, 2023 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by around 13 paisa against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session as the currency settled the trade at PKR 287.60 per USD, compared to the previous session's closing of PKR 287.46 per USD.
The currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 287.8 and a low (ask) of 287.6.
In the open market, Exchange Companies quoted the dollar at 295 for buying and 297 for selling.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR lost 94.98 paisa against the Euro, closing at 316.70 compared to the previous value of 315.75.
The British Pound became cheaper by 17.7 paisa closing at 366.91 compared to 367.09 from a day ago.
The Swiss franc saw gains of 13.18 paisa, closing at 329.26 compared to 329.13 from the previous session.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR gained 0.66 paisa, closing at 1.999 versus 2.006 a day ago.
The Chinese Yuan lost 4.22 paisa, closing at 39.90 against 39.94 from the previous session.
The Saudi Riyal increased in value by 3.59 paisa from 78.262 a day ago to 78.298.
The U.A.E Dirham closed at 76.6523 with a gain of 3.2 paisa from its value of 76.62 a day ago.
During the current financial year, PKR has depreciated against the Dollar by 1.6 rupees or 0.56%. While the current calendar year has seen PKR depreciate by 61.16 rupees or 21.27%.
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6-Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 7 bps to 22.79% and 23.04%.
