PKR appreciates by 5 paisa against USD

March 17, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) rose by 4.65 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 280.17 per USD, compared to previous closing of 280.22.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.40 and a low (ask) of 279.19.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.50 for buying and 282.00 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR fell 1.14 rupees or 0.38% against the Euro, closing at 304.77 compared to the previous value of 303.63.

Against the British Pound, PKR fell by 23.41 paisa or 0.06% to 362.47 compared to 362.23 a day ago.

The local unit depreciated 5.51 paisa or 0.02% against Swiss franc to close at 317.02.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value increased 0.07 paisa or 0.04% to close the session at 1.8825 versus 1.8832 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee rose 4.93 paisa or 0.13% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.69 from 38.74.

The local currency gained by 1.24 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 74.70. While it strengthened by 1.26 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.28.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has deteriorated against the US Dollar by 1.83 rupees or 0.65%. While it has depreciated 1.62 rupees or 0.58% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 1bps to 11.77% and 12.02%.
