PKR appreciates by 10 paisa against USD

December 24, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained by 9.70 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.47 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.57.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.40 and a low (ask) of 278.45.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 278 for buying and 279.6 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR strengthened 74.15 paisa or 0.26% against the Euro, closing at 289.44 compared to the previous value of 290.18.

Against the British Pound, PKR increased by 81.81 paisa or 0.23% to 349.10 compared to 349.92 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 1.98 rupees or 0.63% against Swiss franc to close at 309.43.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value appreciated 0.61 paisa or 0.34% to close the session at 1.7722 versus 1.7783 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee appreciated 1.20 paisa or 0.03% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.15 from 38.16.

The local currency weakened by 0.78 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.13. While it appreciated by 2.64 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.82.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has fell against the US Dollar by 12.95 paisa or 0.05%. While it has strengthened 3.39 rupees or 1.22% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2bps to 11.97% and 12.22%.
