SBP reserves increase $11m to $21bn, total holdings reach $26.8bn

September 24, 2026 (MLN): The foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) increased by $11.3 million or 0.05% WoW to $21.4 billion during the week ended on September 18, 2026, data released by State Bank of Pakistan showed on Thursday.

Similarly, the country's total reserves increased by $19.4m or 0.07% WoW to $26.81bn.

The reserves held by commercial banks rose by $8.1m or 0.15% WoW to $5.41bn.

In the current fiscal year, SBP-held reserves have increased by $2.93bn or 15.86%.

Meanwhile, the current calendar year has seen an increase of $5.34bn or 33.15%.

Meanwhile, monthly data released by the State Bank of Pakistan showed that its reserves increased by $109.70m to $17.1528bn in August 2026 from $17.0431bn a month ago.

Compared to $14.3195bn in August 2025, SBP-held reserves increased by $2.8333bn or 19.79%.

Net foreign reserves held by commercial banks stood at $4.8791bn in August 2026, compared to $4.8485bn a month ago, showing an increase of $30.60m.

Compared to $4.7576bn in August 2025, reserves held by commercial banks increased by $121.50m.

Total liquid foreign reserves held by the country at the end of August 2026 stood at $22.0319bn, compared to $21.8916bn in the previous month, showing a net increase of $140.30m.

Compared to the corresponding month from last year, Pakistan's total reserves increased by $2.9548bn or 15.49%.
