November 21, 2024 (MLN): Pakistan is looking to adopt a Tokyo-inspired model for workforce skill development, aiming to enhance its standards and capitalize on Japan's abundant job opportunities.

Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain in a strategic meeting with a high-level Japanese delegation from the Japan-Pakistan Innovation Institute (JPII) emphasized the necessity of technical assistance over financial aid, said a press release.

Salik Hussain stressed the need for skill development and certification programs to support Pakistani workers seeking employment opportunities in Japan.

The minister urged registered Japanese institutions in Pakistan to prioritize skill development, facilitating direct links between Japanese companies and Pakistani workers.

He stated that Pakistan seeks to enhance its standards and address technical issues to capitalize on Japan's abundant job opportunities.

Inspired by specialized courses in Tokyo, Chaudhry Salik Hussain proposed replicating this model in Pakistan.

The meeting culminated in Japan's request for a business model for the 2025 collaboration, and Minister Hussain announced that the government is working to establish an excellence center, further solidifying Pakistan-Japan relations.

This significant development marks a pivotal step towards fostering a robust partnership between Pakistan and Japan.

The collaboration is expected to unlock new avenues for economic growth, knowledge sharing, and people-to-people exchanges, ultimately strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
