August 06, 2021: The National Electric Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Friday approved 19 paisa reduction in power tariff for June under monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA) mechanism.

“The Authority has approved negative FCA of (Rs.0.1930/kWh), having benefit of Rs.2.6 billion for consumers,” said the notification.

The FCA of June 2021 shall be charged in the billing month of August 2021 to all consumer categories of XWDISCOs, except life line consumers i.e. having consumption up-to 50 units, domestic consumers consuming up-to 300 units and Agriculture Consumers of all the XWDISCOs.

It is hereby clarified that negative adjustment on account of monthly FCA is also applicable to the domestic consumers having Time of Use (ToU) meters irrespective of their consumption level.

However, it would not be applicable to the industrial consumers availing Industrial Support Package (ISP). They would however, get the benefit of negative FCA on base tariff billed units.

The FCA would remain applicable only for one month and would not also be applicable to KE consumers.

The regulator had conducted public hearing on July 28. The Central Power Purchase Agency Guarantee (CPPA-G) had requested positive FCA of Paisa 80.55/kWh, having impact of Rs.11.2 billion in its petition.
