April 25, 2025 (MLN): In a continued effort to address the fire incident at Korangi Creek, TPL REIT Fund I has confirmed that the fire that erupted on the evening of March 28, 2025, was once again extinguished naturally late last night.
This marks the second instance in the past 10 days that the fire has self-contained, following the pattern anticipated by industry experts.
The event aligns with the initial 2–3 week timeline projected for the incident's resolution.
On April 8, 2025, a Technical Committee was established by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), tasked with evaluating and formulating containment strategies.
As part of this effort, the American firm Cudd Well was brought in by the Committee to provide specialised technical guidance.
The decline in fire intensity and its eventual extinguishment is attributed to the small pocket of gas involved in the incident.
Despite this, both the expert committee and TPL REIT Fund I remain vigilant, closely monitoring the area for any potential residual gas leakage.
Moving forward, TPL REIT Fund I, in consultation with the Government-appointed Technical Committee, will determine the next steps based on ongoing evaluations.
TPL REIT Fund I extended its sincere appreciation to the Government of Pakistan, the Technical Committee led by PPL, OGDCL, and PRL, as well as the Mayor of Karachi, local authorities, District Administration, and the Cantonment Board Korangi Creek (CBKC) for their unwavering support and swift response in handling this unusual and complex situation.
