July 18, 2023 (MLN): The Federal Government has appointed four new members to the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of Section 14 and Section 17 of the Competition Act 2010 (XIX of 2010).

The new members are Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu, Mr. Salman Amin, Mr. Abdul Rashid Sheikh, and Capt. (Retd) Saeed Ahmad Nawaz. They will serve for a period of three years with immediate effect.

The appointment of the new members was notified by the Finance Division through an official notification issued on Tuesday.

To note, as per legal requirements, the commission must consist of 5 to 7 members. Presently, the Commission was operating with only one member. With this new appointment, the Commission's complete formation and its operational efficiency will be ensured.
