May 01, 2024 (MLN): The federal government has reduced the price of petrol by Rs5.45 per litre to Rs288.49, said a notification issued by the Finance Division.

Likewise, the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has been slashed by Rs8.42 to Rs281.96 per litre.

The new prices will remain in effect for the first half of May 2024 and are based on the recommendations of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

It is crucial to note that this relief to the general public in the form of eased fuel prices comes after two consecutive hikes due to tensions in the Middle East.

To recall, in the last fortnight, the government increased the price of petrol by Rs4.53 to Rs293.94 per litre.

Similarly, the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) was raised  by Rs8.14 to Rs290.38 per litre.
