Shanghai Electric Group invests in Pakistan's Thar coal block-1

April 26, 2024 (MLN): In order to help Pakistan reduce its energy import bills and provide affordable energy solutions, Shanghai Electric Group has made an investment in Thar Coal Block-1, the latest update by the Information Ministry revealed today.

Chairman of Shanghai Electric Group Wu Lei in his recent visit to Pakistan appreciated the efforts of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and encouraged more foreign investors to invest in Pakistan.

Shanghai Electric Group is a well-known Chinese group that specializes in manufacturing energy equipment.

The group will increase its investment in coal-based power projects in Pakistan and help transition foreign power plants to coal.

This potential investment will reduce Pakistan's dependence on imported coal.
