Prime Minister today rubbished all rumors in market that the government is not planning to take over the K-Electric, Karachi. Meanwhile, he also directed the Sui Southern Gas Company to supply as much gas as possible to the power producing units to provide electricity.

The special meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCoE) was called to resolve the dispute between the SSGC and KE which has led to the city suffering from load-shedding. The situation worsened after the two disagreed upon the total dues owed to each other, which was only resolved after PM intervened between the two parties.

Furthermore, the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) has Rs. 30 billion claims against KE.

Earlier, political parties in the city had called for the federal government to take over K-Electric in to governmental fold raising concerns for the future of the company. However, the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqqan Abbasi laid to rest all these rumors while addressing the press after cabinet meeting.
