Gold prices edge up ahead of US Fed minutes

February 20, 2024 (MLN): The domestic bullion market held its ground as traders worldwide awaited the release of the US Federal Reserve’s January 30/31 meeting minutes.

The price of 24-karat gold inched up by Rs150 per tola to Rs214,450 per tola on Tuesday.

The Karachi Sarafa Association reported that the price of 10-gram 24-karat gold was at Rs183,856, reflecting a marginal gain of Rs128 compared to the previous session.

While the price of 10-gram 22-karat gold ticked up to Rs168,535.

Silver prices remained unchanged today, with 24-karat silver being sold at Rs2,580 per tola and 10-gram silver being traded at Rs2,211.93.

It is worth mentioning that the domestic gold closed last week in the red zone due to a drop in international prices.

International spot gold traded near $2,021 wth a change of 0.2% compared to the previous session.

The minutes from the Fed’s January policy meeting are due on Wednesday.
