Gas supply to industries likely to improve from this month

KARACHI, Mar 15: Acting Managing Director of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) Limited Mohammad Wasim on Friday assured that by the end of March 2019, gas supply to industries in Karachi would improve due to increased production of gas.

He was speaking at a meeting with the members of SITE Association of Industry in the association's office. He was accompanied by a group of senior officers of SSGC, said a press release.

Patron-in-Chief of SITE Association, Siraj Kassam Teli, Patron, Zubair Motiwala, President Saleem Parekh, SVPs Ahsan Arshad Ayub and  Naveed Wahid, former presidents  M. Jawed Bilwani, Younus Bashi.

Advisor Dr. Kazi Ahmed Kamal and number of other senior members were present.

SITE Association's leaders briefed the Acting Managing Director about the problems related to gas being faced by the industries and presented possible solutions. 

On the demand by SITE industrialists, the Acting Managing Director said the company had no option but to shut down gas supply to industries on Sundays.

“In case SSGC doesn't stop gas supply to industries on Sundays, the industries will face problem throughout the week,” he argued.

For the purpose of supplying gas in required pressure, gas lines were being checked simultaneously with gas load checking of industries. This would be done in coordination and consultation with SITE Association.

He requested the SITE Association to leadership to nominate its Focal Person for this task.

He directed his team to resolve issues of the members of SIT Association on priority and to give proper timeframe for their resolution.

Responding to a query about excessive billing, he assured the members to review all such bills issued.
