Fertilizer offtake declines by 11.7% YoY in November

December 26, 2021 (MLN): The country’s total nutrients offtake fell by 11.7% to 473,000 tonnes during November 2021 from 536,000 tonnes in the same period last year, the latest monthly data of fertilizer offtake issued by the National Fertilizer Development Company (NDFC) showed.

Among the nutrients, nitrogen and phosphate offtake decreased by 1.5% and 32.2% to stand at 339,000 and 127,000 tonnes, respectively during November 2021. While potash offtake went up by 55.5% when compared to November 2020.

The report underlined that about 718,000 tonnes of different fertilizer products were manufactured in Pakistan during the month of November 2021. The major share was of urea (74.23%) with 533,000 tonnes.

Other products were DAP 74, Nitrophos 49, CAN 43, SSP 11, SOP 0.8 and different grades of NPK 8 thousand tonnes. Total imported supplies were 63,000 tonnes comprising 31,000 tonnes of DAP, 6,000 tonnes of SOP, 18,000 tonnes of MOP and 8,800 tonnes of MAP during November 2021, it added.

During the first two months of the current Rabi 2021-22 (Oct-Nov), total nutrients offtake increased by 12.3% as compared with the same time frame of last year. Out of this, nitrogen and phosphate offtake increased by 15.9% and 4.3%, respectively while potash offtake witnessed an upsurge of 35.6% over the corresponding period of last year.
