SECP approves Shariah-compliant digital financing for small businesses

September 18, 2026 (MLN): The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has approved Shariah-compliant digital financing for small businesses.

Under the new facility, small business owners will be able to access financing of up to Rs3 million through a digital app.

The “Shamil Kar Tajir” app will enable businesses to obtain financing to purchase business supplies from approved suppliers.

The new digital financing facility will provide small businesses access to the formal credit system, according to the SECP.

SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu said digital distribution will enable financing for businesses previously excluded from formal credit.

“Along with expanding digital financing, we are also ensuring consumer protection,” Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu said.

Over the past year, non-banking companies provided Rs253 billion in financing to small businesses, according to the SECP.

During the year, 2.5 million people were provided financing for small businesses, the SECP said.
