Pakistan cotton arrivals surge 19% to 2.4m bales by Sept 15

September 18, 2026 (MLN): Cotton arrivals at ginning factories across Pakistan rose 19.17% to 2,388,682 bales as of Sept. 15, compared with 2,004,384 bales recorded during the corresponding period last year, according to data released by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners’ Association (PCGA).

Of the total arrivals, 2,207,183 bales had been pressed by Sept. 15, while 181,499 bales remained unginned. A total of 2,127,893 bales had been sold, including 2,035,093 bales to textile mills and 92,800 bales to exporters and traders. No bales were purchased under the TCP category during the period.

Unsold stock with ginners stood at 79,290 bales, while unginned stock stood at 181,499 bales, compared with 228,068 bales a year earlier.

Punjab

Cotton arrivals in Punjab stood at 860,942 bales, up 24.73% from 690,254 bales a year earlier. Of this, 788,261 bales were pressed, and 748,177 bales were sold, comprising 745,377 bales to textile mills and 2,800 bales to exporters and traders. Unsold stock stood at 40,084 bales, while unginned stock stood at 72,681 bales.

Sindh

Sindh recorded a sharper increase, with arrivals rising 16.25% to 1,527,740 bales from 1,314,130 bales last year. Pressing stood at 1,418,922 bales, with total sales of 1,379,716 bales, comprising 1,289,716 bales to textile mills and 90,000 bales to exporters and traders. Unsold stock stood at 39,206 bales, while unginned stock stood at 108,818 bales.

Sanghar led all districts by a wide margin with 888,607 bales, up 14.08% year-on-year, followed by Bahawalnagar with 166,400 bales (up 91.87%), Dera Ghazi Khan with 146,415 bales (up 55.64%), Bahawalpur with 125,253 bales (up 96.11%) and Sukkur with 110,600 bales (up 11.04%).

Among mid-sized districts, Baluchistan recorded 96,775 bales (up 28.86%), Vehari 95,489 bales (down 16.52%), Naushero Feroze 95,300 bales (up 52.24%), Hyderabad 89,828 bales (down 6.43%) and Khairpur 85,473 bales (up 104.58%).

Some districts recorded a decline in arrivals compared with last year, including Muzaffargarh (down 67.85%), Rajanpur (down 59.11%), Ghotki (down 34.88%), Jhang (down 28.59%), Sahiwal (down 28.62%) and Mirpur Khas/Tharparkar (down 27.08%). Sargodha recorded zero arrivals, a 100% decline against a nil base last year, while Pakpattan and Okara also reported no arrivals.

A total of 412 ginning factories were operational nationally, comprising 205 in Punjab and 207 in Sindh.

Total unsold stock across the country stood at 260,789 bales, down from 325,780 bales a year earlier, even as overall arrivals climbed.
