CDNS hits Rs325bn savings target in just 2 months

September 15, 2026 (MLN):The Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) has mobilized Rs325 billion between July 1 and September 10, 2026, achieving its assigned savings mobilization target for the period, according to official sources.

The performance comes as CDNS targets Rs1.53 trillion in total mobilization during FY2026-27, as the government seeks to deepen domestic savings and expand participation in formal investment channels.

Officials attributed the early-year performance to improved institutional efficiency, rising investor confidence and growing demand for secure, government-backed savings instruments.

CDNS is also placing greater emphasis on Shariah-compliant savings products to broaden its investor base and increase participation in Islamic finance, according to APP. 

For FY2025-26, the institution had set a Rs60bn target for Islamic savings instruments, compared with an overall mobilization target of Rs1.65tr. In FY2024-25, CDNS had targeted Rs170bn in Islamic investments.

CDNS mobilized Rs1.742tr in FY2023-24, surpassing its Rs1.7tr target, while it achieved the Rs1.6tr target set for FY2022-23.

For FY2021-22, the institution's initial Rs1.3tr mobilization target was revised upward to Rs1.4tr following favorable market conditions and stronger resource mobilization.

The latest performance is expected to support the government's efforts to strengthen the domestic savings base, while product diversification, digitalization and expansion of Shariah-compliant offerings remain key areas of focus for CDNS.
