Ensuring affordable essential items is govt’s top priority: PM

March 04, 2025 (MLN): The availability of essential items at affordable prices remains the government's top priority, reflecting its commitment to public welfare, said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

In a statement, Prime Minister conveyed his satisfaction with the ongoing decline in the Consumer Price Index inflation and expressed confidence in its further reduction.

The Prime Minister noted that inflation dropped to 1.5% last month, the lowest rate since September 2015.

He added that the average inflation rate stood at 5.9% from July 2024 to February 2025, a significant decline compared to 28% during the same period in the previous fiscal year.

Shehbaz Sharif credited the government's economic team for their excellent efforts, stating that economic indicators are improving steadily, accoridng to the press release.

He emphasized that this progress is the result of diligent teamwork, with all institutions working together to strengthen the economy, promote business, and attract investment.

He further stated that the benefits of macroeconomic improvements have started reaching the public.
